It is said the 93% of voters know who they will vote for before the campaigning even begins. Do you think that’s true with three candidates on the ballot? Take the unofficial poll and rank your choices.
Didn’t know Matthew Hallock was on the ballot? That’s a great conversation starter to a huge problem. Finally, just last week, the state of CT told me (privately) they were officially NOT telling the citizens of Fairfield who was on their ballot for First Selectman, leaving it to me. After tension-filled conversations where I unsuccessfully insisted that ensuring a fair and equal election was their job, and they were obligated to at least issue a press release announcing that I was on the ballot, I am left to tell you myself.
Here’s the good news. The CT legislature earlier this year passed an election reform bill that included exploring Ranked Choice Polling.

Current First Selectman candidate Senator Tony Hwang was one of the authors. This is perfect in a situation like now, where many people will never vote Republican because of POTUS, while many people will also never support the Democratic party in CT. Now, you can rank your choices 1,2, 3 from first to last. Low score wins (or you have a run-off with the top two finishers).
About The Voice
The Revolution is brought to you by Google. Using only Google and its deep-dive, industry-specific tools, The Voice has written one breaking story after another on malfeasance in the public sector. You could never fight City Hall because they held all the cards — the information, the contacts, and the contracts — the money. (Always follow the money.) Today, we now have OCR of pdfs, transcripts of videos, indexed emails — and intelligence to connect all the dots. Public sector records are a vast, bottomless Information Sea. The Voice doesn’t conduct interviews except for fact checking or use supplied copy as source material. The only quotes we use are from our Shakespeare insult mug on the Op-Ed page. This is so you have 100% confidence that The Voice is giving you valid information. In this age of justifiable cynicism towards the news, when you are fed what corporations want you to consume, you know that everything from The Voice is accurate and agenda-free — Just give me some truth, as John Lennon sang.
We ascribe to the highest standards of journalism and were validated earlier this year when the Google News Initiative selected The Voice for its master training class. We were honored to join a select team of media outlets from around the country to hone our craft in this new era radical transparency.
Why I’m running
The other half of The Voice is engagement: community activism. Make a difference. My heroes are people like Erin Brockovich, Rachel Carson, and Greta Thunberg. Read Superman isn’t Coming, where Brockovich reminds you that no hero is coming to save your town. She explains that the hero is in fact you and gives examples of people across America who have made a difference.
Not long ago, Fairfield was on the cover of Money magazine as one of the top towns in America. We are are now on the edge of the waterfall. It’s not too late, but almost, to save the town and restore our rightful position. And I honestly believe we have the ability to do it like never before. I have set up outlines and plans on the major topics, but alone I’ll fail. With the town together, we will definitely succeed.
I told Bill Gerber I would get the people of Fairfield involved. What kind of person would I be if I didn’t do it just because he’s gone? I want to actually go further than communicating with the town - I want to help unite the town. Elections are by nature divisive - I’m selecting you over you — but we all love Fairfield.
Plus, Bill wanted to make Fairfield the #1 town for governance in CT. This calls for a total change of our system from Board of Selectman, whether it’s to a Town Manager (like he suggested), Mayor, or any one of many options. The truth is that what Bill called outside vested interests (OVI) have infiltrated virtually our entire system of government, altering our town charter, plans, maps and more. We can free ourselves from them and develop documents that work for us.
I did not want the tremendous victory against the dystopian House of Cards HB 5002 Bill last summer be for naught. The team of Bill (Democrat) and GOPers Alexis Harrison and Kathryn Braun, along with leaders from New Canaan, Greenwich and elsewhere, rallied the state and pressured the governor to repeat that abysmal House of Cards legislation. This was the tremendous upset victory that the building industry did not see coming. When we lost Bill, they have moved right in with CMDA and its twin brother HB 8002, which passed, giving us this dystopian future of big buildings.
I’ve seen how outside vested interests have moved in with his absence to advance their agendas. Plus, Alexis not getting re-elected for Town Plan & Zoning commission was a loss for Fairfield. Alexis is one of Fairfield’s most-articulate voices and co-founder of CT169Strong.org. But she’s under the GOP banner and POTUS has made the entire party radioactive, so she lost, but Fairfield is the victim. Bigly.
So make a Fairfield the best-governed town in CT and also restore our leadership position in America. Nobody said it would be easy. But you don’t get to the top by default; you have to earn it. I know we can.
