The first thing you can do for Fairfield and yourself is see what a great town plan really is. Click on the images to link to an online PDF of the 1976 and 1979 plans. Don’t think (for now) about the vendor’s current POCD or monopoles or congestion or all the buildings projected or any of the maladies we face today, but go back to a Fairfield 50 years ago. You will Know your town like never before. Compare 76 line by line with 79. Find out what changed, while you ask yourself: Why would they go through the huge expense and trouble to print a new plan three years after the last one? I know, but I want you to discover it. It tells you a lot about the reindeer games people play, and they play them all the time.

Please also dive in to the materials I prepared and posted to the-voice.com/Fairfield, which is a site I made for everyone. I built this as a repository and platform for all the work we have to do. We have a desperate need for a new Plan, town Charter, Neighborhood representation that truly empowers the RTM, and more. I did a narrative outline of approx. 25 pages but stopped there, as the Plan isn’t mine to write and I want everyone to have ownership in it.
Not too long ago, Money magazine named Fairfield one of America’s Top Towns. Our goal is to return there, as well as be a model of town governance for the state. But remember you don’t become #1 by default. You have to earn it.
Timing: I think we can have an outline to present to the TPZ the first week of March, with a draft to the state in July and a document we can believe in by the end of the year. The official deadline for the 2026 POCD is November, when we can turn in the best town plan, ever.I know it can be overwhelming. Fairfield has been frozen for 50 years. But times have changed. Thanks to the information revolution and the transparency it has created in the public sector, you have great power now. And with great power comes great responsibility to do whatever you want to do to create your Utopia. Alone, I can’t do it. But together, we definitely can.
I am legally required to tell you that I am a candidate for First Selectman in our special election on 2/3 and approve and pay for everything. At the top of the-voice.com/Fairfield, you will see a link to a ranked choice poll, where you can rank the three candidates by your first, second and last choice, or who you don’t want. This is unofficial and just for our edification and a chance to get with the times with elections. I’m also going to roll out more questions to create a town referendum on all the topics important to us.
